A Midsummer Night's Dream

I thought the ending was really bad and Act 5 was also really bad. The ending didn't really have anything to do with the story except that it was all dream. I didn't like how Shakespeare skipped the wedding, I think that would have been a better ending. What do you think, please comment.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 5

Act 5, Theseus has already been married and so have Lysander and Hermia, Demetrius and Helena. Philostrate gives Theseus and Hippolyta different options that they would like to see and Theseus picks the play of “A tedious short drama about young Pyramus and his love Thisbe, a very sad and tragic comedy,” which was the play that Bottom and the other craftsmen were doing. Thisbe (Flute) and Pyramus (Bottom) talk threw a hole in the wall, but Moonshine (Starveling) and the lion (Snug) trick Pyramus and kills Pyramus kills himself, because he thought that THisbe was died.. Afterwards Thisbe finds Pyramus died and Thisbe kills herself (himself). The craftsmen were really bad actors that made the audience laugh and Bottom didn’t get to say his story. At the end, Puck says to the audience (us) that this was all a dream.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 4

Act 4, scene 1, Titania and Bottom are still together and Bottom tells the fairies to go get Bottom some food (we can see that Bottom wanted food that a donkey would eat). Titania and Bottom fall asleep and Oberon puts on the “love juice” for the second time. Titania wakes up and remembers that she was in love with a ***, but then Oberon steps in says that they did love each other; it was the Indian prince that was in the way of their love. Titania and Oberon “fix” the problem and start dancing as Puck changes Bottom’s head into a normal head again. Oberon also blesses Theseus’s marriage and also says that Titania and he are just friends. Tirania and Oberon leave and Theseus, Hippolyta and Egeus enter. They see Lysander, Hermia, Helena, and Demetrius sleeping and wake them up. Theseus asked Hermia’s decision, but Demetrius didn’t love Hermia anymore so Theseus decided that Hermia didn’t have to marry Demetrius and Theseus also wanted Hermia and Lysander, Helena and Demetrius to get married on the same day as Theseus’s wedding. Bottom wakes up remembering the dream and decides that he wants tell it after the play. He leaves going to look for the other craftsmen.
Act 4, scene 2, all the craftmen (Snout, Snug, Flute, Quince, Starveling) are wondering where Bottom was and the show couldn’t go on with out Bottom. This part we find out how the craftsmen really feel about Bottom, that he is smart, the best looks in Athens. Bottom finds the craftsmen and tells them that he was going to tell a story after the play.

A Midsummer Night's Dream Act 3

In Act 3, scene 1, Bottom, Snug, Snout, Quince, Flute and Starveling are rehearing for the play, but they had to fix somethings that were in the play like the lion's roar and when Pyramus takes out a sword and kills himself. As all of this is happening, Puck is watching the craftsmen try to act and Titania is also there, but she's sleeping on the side. The craftsman don't notice that Titania or Puck is there and Puck doesn't like that they are rehearing there, because they're going to wake up Titania. Bottom says his line, but then he leaves and Puck leaves with him. Back stage Puck turns Bottom's head into donkey's head. Bottom comes back with Puck and the other craftsmen scream and run away as Bottom enters. Leaving Bottom alone with on idea that is head is turned into a donkey's head. Puck also leaves and Bottom thinks that they're playing a jokes on him. Titania wakes up and sees Bottom singing and falls in love with him (Titania has the love juice). Titania offeres some of her faires Moth, Mustardseed, Peaseblossom, Cobweb to do whatever Bottom wants them to do. Bottom justs fallows along and they all leave.

In Act 3, scene 2, Puck is telling Oberon what has happened while he was gone. As Puck is telling Oberon what had happened (from scene 1), Demetrius and Hermia enter. Oberon sees that what he had told Puck, had been all mixed up, but Puck did what Oberon had told him and Puck seemed like he didn't really care. Hermia thinks that Demetrius has killed Lysander and left Demetrius alone to find Lysander. Demetrius falls asleep and Oberon puts some love juice on Demetrius so that he would fall in love with Helena. Oberon also tells Puck to go get Helena so that when Demetrius wakes up he will see Helena and will fall in love. Lysander and Helena eneter and Lysander is telling Helena how much he loves her, but HElena thinks that Lysander is playing a joke on Helena. Demetrius wakes up and falls madly in love with Helena. Helena still thinks that Lysander is joking around with her, but Demetrius has joined in and Helena has no clue that Lysander and Demetrius are madly in love with her. Hermia enters and is confused why Lysander left her. Lysander tells Hermia that he has fallen in love with Helena and doesn't care about Hermia. Helena still thinking that they are making fun of her and now thinks that Hermia is also part of this. Demetrius and Lysander exit to go fight to see which of them gets Helena. Hermia and Helena also leave. Oberon is going to try fix this by making the forest all foggy, while Puck is going to find Demetrius and Lysander. Puck uses Lysander's voice to send Demetrius a different way and Puck uses to Demetrius's voice to send Lysander another way so that they don't fight (everthing is foggy so Demetrius or Lysander can't see that it's Puck). Demetrius andLysander were too tired to they decided to fall asleep where they are (they fall asleep right next to eachother, but they don't see each other). Then Helena and Hermia fall asleep where Demetrius and Lysander are, but they don't see each other nor Demetrius and Lysander. Oberon takes the love juice off of Lysander, but leaves it on Demetrius so that he could learn his lesson.

P.S. No wonder that's the title of the book or play.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Act 2

In Act 2, scene 1, Puck (Oberon’s fairy) and a fairy (one of Titania’s fairies) are talking to each other and tell each other that they must keep Oberon (fairy king) and Titania (fairy queen) must be as far as possible or they will get in a fight, but it was too late and Oberon started talking to Titania. Titania and Oberon are mad at each other, because Titania thinks that Oberon was cheating on her and thinks that Oberon likes Hippolyta (queen of amazons), but most importantly, Titania doesn’t want to give Oberon the Indian prince (son of Titania’s mortal friend) that she has knapped and wants to raise him like a son of hers. Also, Oberon keeps disturbing Titania and her fairies when they sing. Oberon is bad at Titania, because Oberon thinks that Titania likes Thesus and Oberon wants to take the Indian prince and make him into one of his minions, but Titania doesn’t let him. This Shows Titania doesn’t sleep with Oberon or talks to him, but Oberon has a plan to make Titania do what Oberon wants to do by getting a flower that Cupid hit with one of his arrows when he was trying to hit a virgin woman, but missed and hit the flower. Now Puck has to go and find the flower to use it on Titania when she is sleeping so that when Titania wakes up, Oberon will be there so that the first thing Titania sees will be Oberon and will fall in love with him and Titania will do whatever he wants. Oberon over hears Demetrius and Helena talking and sees that Helena loves Demetrius, but Demetrius treats her like dirt. Oberon decides that he wants to show Demetrius that what he is doing is bad and wants to show him how it feels to be treated like dirt so Oberon tells Puck that he needs to use some of the “love juice” on a Athenian man who is with a Athenian woman in the forest.
In Act 2, scene 2, Lysander and Hermia decide that they should sleep in the forest. Lysander wanted to sleep close to Herima, but Hermia thought it was best for them to sleep separated. When Lysander and Hermia are asleep, Puck thinks that Lysander was the guy that Oberon was talking about and puts the “love juice” on Lysander’s eyes and Puck leaves. Demetrius and Helena were in the forest also. Demetrius runs away from Helena leaving her lost. She finds Lysander on the floor, not sure if Lysander was died or sleeping. Lysander wakes up and falls in love with Helena, but Helena thought that Lysander is making fun of her. Helena leaves, but Lysander goes after her, leaving Hermia all alone. Hermia wakes up and wonders where Lysander went. As all of this is happening, Oberon as put the “love juice” on Titania and Oberon is waiting for to wake up so she can fall in love with Oberon and Oberon can get the Indian prince.
~Diego~
P.S. I think that Titania is going to fall in love with Bottom and Puck turns Bottom’s face ugly so that Titania will not love him anymore.

Summary of A Midsummer Night's Dream: Act One

In Act 1, Scene 1, Theseus has planned to marry Hippolyta on the new moon (in four days). Also, Egeus wants Hermia to marry Demetrius, but Hermia has fallen in love with Lysander. Egeus doesn’t believe that Hermia is in love with Lysander and he thinks that Lysander has put a love spell on Hermia to fall in love with Lysander. Egeus told Theseus and Hermia that he owns Hermia and Egeus told Theseus and Hermia that he owns Hermia and what he says goes. Theseus agreed and decided that if Hermia doesn’t marry Demetrius, she will become a nun or she will be killed. Lysander points out that Demetrius wasn’t a good person, because Demetrius said that he loved Helena, but then dumped her after he saw Hermia. It was a very good point that Lysander made, but it didn’t change Theseus’s or Egeus’s mind. Afterwards, Lysander told Hermia that they should run away and get married a couple of miles outside of Athens, where Lysader’s Aunt lives and will take them in at midnight the next day in the forest. They see Helena, Hermia’s frenemy and Hermia tells her Lysander’s romantic plan, but Helena still madly still in love with Demetrius after he rejected her, is going to tell Demetrius Lysander’s plan, thinking that Demetrius will somehow like her again. She also thinks that Demetrius will be grateful for want she has done.

Act 1, Scene 2, some of the middle class workers are going to put on a play for Theseu’s and Hippolyta’s wedding. Quince (carpenter) is the director of the show and is playing Thisbe’s father in the show. Bottom (overconfident weaver that makes a lot of silly mistakes) is playing Pyramus the show and is very big jerk to other people. Flute (bellows repairman) is playing Thisbe, a girl and has to talk in a very high, squeaky voice in the show. Starveling (tailor) is playing Thisbe’s mother, Snout (handyman) is chosen to play Pyramus’s father, and Snug (cabinetmaker) is to play a lion and he afraid that he will scare the ladies in the audience and will get in trouble. They are to meet at the forest to practice and get the props ready.

~Diego R 783

P.S. I think that the middle class workers in the play and Lysander and Hermia an are going to bump into each other. The middle class is going to see that Lysander and Hermia are running away.

P. P.S. I think that Demetrius will be there, too.
